Translations by Brian Friel
Translations is about the British colonization of Ireland through the creation of ordnance survey maps, which charted out and changed the entire country to English place names for the use of the British Empire. The lighting design of this show focused on how the play's characters and their bodies are affected by the erasure that colonialism and translation enact.
