Fellow Travelers is an opera about an impossible romance between two men working in the US federal government during the Lavender Scare during the McCarthy era. The lighting in this piece emphasized the tension the men feel in wanting to pursue a political career or a relationship that would upend their lives, by never fully visually immersing the audience to the romance in the show.
