Halfway Bitches Go Straight to Heaven by Stephen Adly Guirgis

Halfway Bitches Go Straight to Heaven shows the effects of displacement on a group of women seeking refuge at a government-funded shelter on the Upper West Side. The lighting in this piece emphasizes the tension felt among the residents, and between the shelter and the neighborhood in which it's situated. Can the shelters residents and staffers create a safe environment and persevere in a system that works against them?
